On his sprawling A Complete Unknown press tour, Timothée Chalamet’s gonzo red-carpet looks tended to skew toward the unattainable. Unless you happen to be an A-lister promoting a landmark music biopic, you probably don’t have access to an all-pink-everything Chrome Hearts ensemble, for instance, much less the double whammy of sneak peeks at both Sarah Burton’s Givenchy and Haider Ackermann’s Tom Ford that the 29-year-old unleashed on Oscar night. As it turns out, though, one of the most eye-grabbing fits that Chalamet donned in the lead-up to the Academy Awards is way easier to get your hands on—and you can do so right now for just a hair over $300.
A couple of weeks back, at the 2025 Academy Awards Nominees Dinner, the best-actor hopeful pulled up in a stunner of a two-piece set: a matching black satin trucker jacket and jeans. Was this another Tom Ford preview? Perhaps a loan from Prada, one of Chalamet’s other go-to labels? Nope. Instead, the look hailed from a far less likely source: the Gap.

Admittedly, this wasn’t your everyday mall pickup. The fit was a custom look from GapStudio, an endeavor pioneered by the brand’s lauded creative director Zac Posen. Thanks to that unexpectedly sleek textile, the smartened-up Canadian tuxedo delivered eveningwear appeal in spades—and gave Chalamet yet another memorable menswear moment in a press run already chock full of them.
While the look was originally intended as a bespoke one-off, the brand just launched a public preorder for the set over the weekend. Shipping in May, the jacket and trousers are available separately for just $198 and $128, respectively. That’s well under $400 for one of the best red-carpet looks of 2025—one that’ll look just right everywhere from a day at the office to a big night out.
