How do you iterate on an icon? Since launching in 1965, the Adidas Stan Smith—with its ultra-clean lines and low-profile design—has all but set the template for contemporary tennis shoes. It is the minimalist sneaker, period. Mess with it too much and you risk committing blasphemy; don’t do enough and it’ll feel like you shouldn’t have bothered collaborating at all. Naturally, the longtime sneaker legend Edison Chen understands that balance perfectly, and his Hong Kong-based streetwear label Clot’s summery new spin on the Stan Smith is proof.

Just in time for Wimbledon season, Chen has reimagined the Stan Smith as an espadrille. On the classic white colorway, the silhouette’s typical stiff leather upper has been swapped for a softer, unstructured version and stitched atop a traditional jute midsole. A second colorway coats the upper and sole in black, while the heel tab features a textured tennis-court green finish. While we wouldn’t recommend lacing these up for your next tennis lesson, they capture old-school country club class with all of the style and none of the stuffiness.

Speaking of, the accompanying apparel collection leans into the same vibe. Clot has leaned heavily on knitted textiles and rich textures throughout its collaborations with Adidas, which began in 2023. This season proves no different, starring loose crochet knit polos and shorts that perfectly balance breathability and function. You could totally wear them to the courts—or just save them for brunch afterwards.

Clot and Adidas’s latest collection drops July 12 via CONFIRMED and select stores.
