We spoke with Rassvet founder Tolya Titaev and brand manager Val Bauer at their showroom in Paris to learn a bit more about how Rassvet has evolved over the past 10 years, what’s still to come, and more.

What Is Rassvet?

Rassvet is a Russian skate brand founded in 2016 by pro skater Tolya Titaev and Gosha Rubchinskiy. The latter designer is no longer affiliated with the brand. Its name (sometimes stylized in Russian lettering that reads “Paccbet”) translates to “sunrise.” Since its inception, Rassvet has amplified the youthful Russian skate scene on a global scale and represented a beacon of positivity for its future.

“The youth is the most important part,” says Titaev. “Young people are who we need to listen to.”

The brand is housed under the Dover Street Market umbrella, which also includes labels like ERL and Comme des Garçons. In addition to its apparel, Rassvet also has its own skate team.

What Does Rassvet Make?

True to its skate roots, Rassvet specializes in traditional skateboarding garb like graphic T-shirts, hoodies, and baggy chinos. As the brand has developed over the years, it has grown into a more well-rounded assortment of products. Current seasonal collections from Rassvet include items such as denim jackets, trench coats, mesh polos, and printed knit sweaters. It also sells skate hardware like decks and trucks.

“We are always keeping the balance between the Dover Street Market heritage and our skateboarding roots,” Rassvet brand strategist Valentin Bauer tells Complex. “Our pinstripe chinos have a carpenter back pocket to show that balance between opposites.”

What Inspires Rassvet?

Skating in Russia, Titaev was unhappy with the current offerings from brands, so he decided to do something about it. He made his own. As far as what inspires the brand’s output today, that can come from various elements of everyday life.

“It’s my surroundings and different moments in time,” says Titaev. “It’s the people I meet, movies, music I’m listening to, it’s all turning differently. I even get inspiration on the street just from looking at the people and seeing the ways they dress.

The Graphics

The first item that Rassvet ever released in 2016 was a graphic T-shirt featuring an image of a Russian child in front of a sunburst logo. It picked up some steam on a mainstream level when Justin Bieber wore a yellow version at one of his concerts. The brand will be reintroducing the signature graphic in 2026 to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Graphics have remained a driving force of Rassvet’s collections. Along with classic logo tees, some pieces feature all-over prints composed of Titaev’s original sketches. Its Fall/Winter 2025 collection leans into kitschy graphics that you may come across in a thrift store. The brand also frequently collaborates with its network of photographers and artists to incorporate their originals works across a variety of items.

How Has Rassvet Evolved Over the Past 10 Years?

“Overall, it has become more mature,” says Titaev. “At first, it was more about working on the graphics. Now, it’s working on how the garment looks, the wash, the treatment, and the interesting materials. That’s starting to be more important than just the logos.”

Where Can I Buy Rassvet?

You can now shop select items from Rassvet’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection on Complex. Dubbed “They’re Not Old, They’re Classics,” the season is meant to evoke the feeling of timeless vintage clothes. Graphics like galloping horses in front of a mountain range or a clown interacting with a ballerina are meant to evoke the kitschy items you might pull off the rack of your local thrift store. Our personal favorite is the denim jacket featuring a faded tartan plaid print.

What Is Next For Rassvet?

Even though the brand has been around for nearly a decade, Titaev shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, he feels like it has much more to offer.

“For me, it feels like just the start. There’s so much more to say and to show,” says Titaev. “My goal is to just be a respected brand that makes thoughtful designs.”
