When NYC councilman Chi Ossé (left) and his food-stylist boyfriend, Sean Dooley, first met, their wardrobes were polar opposites. “Chi is going to hate me for saying this, but he loved very tight-fitting clothes,” Dooley shares with a laugh. “I love an oversized fit.”

The Gen Z politician, elected in 2021, has since blown up way beyond his Brooklyn district thanks to his irreverently informative, and viral, TikToks. Ossé has a distinctive work style too. “As I’ve gotten more comfortable in my job, more of my personal style has been intertwined with that council-member dress code,” the 27-year-old explains. “You have to find a healthy balance between doing too much and doing what’s appropriate.”

And now, he says, his and Dooley’s tastes have also converged. “Our closets are starting to melt together.”
