The fitness and wellness brand Hot Girl Walk is suing Fashion Nova for trademark infringement.
Court documents obtained by Complex allege that in 2024, a Fashion Nova employee reached out to Mia Lind, founder of Hot Girl Walk, to discuss a possible collaboration between the two brands.
After their initial discussion, HGW decided to “investigate Fashion Nova’s business and product offerings,” per the complaint. HGW then “discovered that it had fallen prey to a scheme that Fashion Nova, on information and belief, uses on other popular, innovative brands that have robust intellectual property portfolios.”
Evidence included in the complaint shows that Fashion Nova has been selling a “Hot Girl Walk” collection on its website since as early as November 2023, prior to Lind and Fashion Nova’s initial conversation. Items include athletic wear like leggings, workout tops, pants, and more.
“Defendant has also incorporated the HGW Marks into its social media posts,” the complaint reads,” and appeared to encourage paid partners to post “similar infringing content on social media.” HGW believes the social media campaign is a “deliberate effort to trade off HGW’s brand and goodwill…to sell infringing products.”
Hot Girl Walk is asking that Fashion Nova stop further infringing on HGW marks and trade name, and from competing unfairly with HGW. Hot Girl Walk is seeking damages in an amount to be decided at trial, punitive damages, and reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs.
