Asics has tapped longtime collaborator Hal Studios to debut its latest lifestyle sneaker, the Gel-NYC 2.0.

According to the sportswear brand, the new Gel-NYC 2.0 builds on the first version of the model while adding refined proportions and design elements inspired by various structures in New York City. If the silhouette itself wasn’t New York enough, the first two colorways releasing are inspired by Nas’ Illmatic and Wu-Tang Clan’s Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) albums.

The Illmatic-inspired colorway sports a brown-based mesh upper paired with brick-themed leather overlay panels and an all-black Gel-cushioned midsole. The Enter the Wu-Tang-inspired iteration features a two-toned black and yellow color scheme, with the aforementioned brick details at the forefoot and heel.

The first two Asics Gel-NYC 2.0 colorways will be released on Jan. 16 on Complex, Asics.com, and at select Asics stockists. The sneakers retail for $170 each.
