Los Angeles will soon be the home of a one-day skateboarding event on April 4.

On Tuesday (Feb. 24), the famed Street League Skateboarding announced that LA will be the location of the SLS Take Over at Mission Ace Studios near the DTLA. The event meets at the intersection of culture, skateboarding, music and food. Along with live performances and an iconic car clubs showcase, SLS Take Over will be rooted in the West Coast spirit.

To launch the event, Street League Skateboarding tapped Mike Shinoda, co-founder and member of rock band Linkin Park, to narrate the event’s promotional video. Street League Skateboarding also partnered with graffiti artist SABER to bring LA authenticity to the campaign’s visual identity.

“Downtown Los Angeles,” the musician begins. “This is where culture never asks for permission.”

Also touching down at Mission Ace Studios for the all-day festival are Nitro Circus stunt performances, art and culture activations, regional food vendors and live DJs.

“This isn’t just an event, it’s a statement,” stated Thrill Sports CMO Tal Cooperman in press materials. “Los Angeles birthed skateboarding. It raised art. It raised culture. On April 4, we’re bringing it all together under one roof.”

Tickets for SLS Take Over are available now.
