Quince
Pros
100% cotton
Supremely soft
Cons
Can run large
This elite pair of underwear is my personal go-to. As a boxer briefs guy, nothing holds a candle to 100 percent cotton Calvins. In terms of softness, no other pair in my drawer beats these. They are the first ones I reach for the minute a load of laundry comes fresh out the dryer. I’ve had the pairs I wrote about for almost a year now and there’s not a single tear or hole to be seen.
They run a little larger than my Hanes, but if the elastic waistband happens to stick out a little on top, I can’t say I mind showing who I’m wearing. I’ve linked a three pack here because, like Pringles, who the hell is happy with just one?
For the boxers, I’m going to turn it over to our resident boxer buying expert, our commerce editor Luke Guillory. These organic knickers are made from 100 percent cotton, and are the most comfortable pair he owns. In his own words:
“Sunspel is my special occasion boxer. It has been making these long staple cotton pairs since 1947, so they have an old-school quality to them. The cotton is really starchy when you first buy them, but it softens over time really nicely. There are two back seams, so they sit on your butt, not in your ass crack. Sorry to be so crude, but it’s an important distinction that makes them more comfortable—and more durable. They’re expensive, but I’ve been buying myself one pair a year for my birthday and have amassed a solid collection.”

If Sunspel makes Luke’s special occasion underwear, these Uniqlos are his day-to-day boxers. At under $10 per pair, the utility per dollar can’t be beat.
They aren’t luxe levels of soft, or like an upcoming pick made from something fancy like “sea island cotton,” but they are durable (think years of use per pair) and breathable. And they come in a ton of different colors and patterns, so it’s easy to amass a collection you can wear every day of the week without feeling bored. Personally, I could stick to the stripes all week and be just dandy.
I won’t lie to you. The best 100 percent organic cotton options are boxers, which is great if that’s what you wear. A lot of guys, myself included, don’t. So here’s the next best thing. A pair of trunks—the shorter cousin of the boxer-brief—made with organic cotton from a brand with a ton of sustainability certifications.
These trunks from Quince are a great pick for any boxer-briefs wearer who isn’t overly paranoid. Snug and stretchy, they always run true to size. They are made using 95 percent organic cotton and five percent spandex which, all things considered, is pretty good.

If you have the cash to burn on little luxuries, this is one of the better ways to spend it. A pair of Turnbull and Asser boxers may just last as long as that fitness tracker you just got—and honestly they will do a better job helping you get a restful night’s sleep. It uses the highest quality cotton known to man (straight from the Caribbean), producing a pair of underwear that feels closer to cashmere than anything else.
It would be rude to forget about the briefs guys. They walk among us and deserve comfort just like the rest. And they also deserve more color choices than just tightie whities. Pact is one of the organic brand delivering the goods by offering up soft briefs in three distinct dark colors.
At the end of the day, these are organic, 95 percent cotton (5 percent elastane), and sustainably made. For a comfy, breathable pair of briefs that will last, that’s basically as good as it gets. And they might just help remind your partner that it doesn’t get sexier than the man they love in skimpy underwear.

What About the Band?
Bro, the elastic band is always going to have plastics, that’s just science. Thankfully that part doesn’t touch your junk. If you’re extra wary, our boxer options all have the elastic band covered by cotton.
