To answer that question, we turned to last June’s runways, where designers previewed the kicks they’d be dropping this Spring. Looking at them as a whole, a few footwear trends—seven, to be exact—emerged across the worldwide collections.

You’ll find all of them below, but for a preview, I can say that in the aftermath of fashion’s dizzying recent round of creative-director musical chairs, designers have understandably taken refuge among the classics—plimsolls, fisherman sandals, woven slides, sporty sneakers.
