After creating a limited Japan and New York-themed Gel-NYC collab last year, Asics has reconnected with the streetwear community app Sneakmart for another exclusive colorway of popular mesh runner.
This time, the duo has brought in French artist Stan Birch, aka Staniflou, to help create this “Obi” Gel-NYC, shown here. According to the collaborators, this pair is inspired by a Japanese rabbit named Obi, which appears on the box.
The sneaker is dressed in sail and pistachio green hues on the upper, honoring the animal and its habitat. Each pair is also handcrafted with wool for the side stripe and shoelaces, with Sneakmart’s logo engraved by the toe. It’s worth mentioning that only 200 pairs of this sneaker will be released given the custom nature of its design.
Readers who are interested in buying a pair will be able to do so starting today at 3 p.m. exclusively at the Complex Shop for $210. The sneaker will also be released via the Sneakmart app on Sunday, Oct. 6.
