The Timex Atelier line builds on the success of the Giorgio Galli line of watches, which have served as Timex’s flagship offering since the introduction of the S1 in 2019. 2025 saw the brand close that chapter with the release of the S2Ti, but thankfully, Timex showed it wasn’t shutting the door to higher-end watchmaking entirely with the debut—in quick succession—of the Timex Atelier Marine M1a in September, and the Timex Atelier GMT24 M1a barely a month later.

The Marine M1a is a dive-inspired sports watch with the specs to back it up: 200m of water resistance, a screw-down crown, plenty of Super-Luminova, and a unidirectional rotating bezel with a polished ceramic insert (also fully lumed). Pair this with a black enamel dial, semi-skeletonized case, a unique bracelet with tool-free adjustment, and a Swiss automatic movement—all in a package priced at just $1,050 on the bracelet, $950 on a rubber strap—and you have a genuinely compelling offer at an attainable price.

The GMT24 M1a will cost you a bit more—$1,450 on the bracelet, $1,350 on a rubber strap—but for that money, you get a watch equipped with a Landeron 24 caller GMT movement, and with it, a bright orange GMT hand that allows you to track a second time zone. And you still secure a solid everyday sports watch that could easily be both the beginning and end of your descent into watch collecting. Well, at least until you encounter what Timex Atelier cooks up next.
