Is global warming, or Climate Change, all that bad? (Sorry, politics team.) It is, obviously, but the things that are bad about it—ecological collapse, resource scarcity, and geopolitical fallout—are big scary concepts that are hard for a simple man like me to grasp. Y’all want to know what I’m seeing? Never ending summer. Here in New York, I might get beach weather deep into September. My family down south might keep the pool open until November. Is it worth the trade off? No, but I’m in the business of making lemonade with these soon-to-be-extinct lemons I’ve been dealt.
The best example: brands haven’t caught on to the new endless summer. Our dear friends over at Todd Snyder are already discounting summer styles. Linen pants, summer shirts, and swim trunks are all on discount well before the extended end of summer. There’s no reason not to upgrade your summer wardrobe this year. You can just buy it all right now for the best price of the year, and rock it immediately.
Or, you can get it for next year. As with just about anything Todd Snyder puts out, all this stuff is timeless. A pair of printed riviera shorts were cool when Alain Delon wore them in Jacques Deray’s 1969 La Piscine. Same for Sean Connery in a poolside terry cloth polo in Goldfinger. This stuff was cool then, it’s cool now. The fact you can buy it on discount is a blessing. Snag some deals then go sit by the pool, get some sun, and try not to think about the future.
