The NFL has fined Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts for the mismatched Air Jordan cleats he wore against the Pittsburgh Steelers this past weekend.

According to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero on X, the league handed Hurts a $5,628 fine for the green mismatched Jordan 11 cleats seen in the image above. Per Pelissero, Hurts violated the league’s uniform and equipment rules as one of the shoes was not in the Eagles’ “Constitutional team colors.”

The NFL’s uniform and equipment rules state that a player can wear cleats that come in black, white, or any constitutional team color, or any combination of the hues. Hurts confirmed to reporters that he intended to wear different cleats for the game, but they failed to arrive in time.

Jordan Brand has issued a statement in regards to the fine, saying, “We’re paying the fine. You can’t ban greatness.” The fine from the league that was sent to Hurts can also be seen in the image below.

Hurts signed an endorsement deal with Jordan Brand in August 2023 and since then, the Philly quarterback has regularly worn unreleased PE versions of Air Jordan cleats.
