Nike is partnering with the Virgil Abloh Archives for the launch of the “Virgil Abloh: The Codes” exhibition during Paris Fashion Week this fall.
The collaborators say that the exhibition will honor Virgil Abloh’s nearly two decades of work through a 20,000-object archive that includes advertising, apparel, architecture, footwear, music, and more. The exhibition will run from Sept. 30 (Virgil Abloh’s birthday) through Oct. 10 at the Grand Palais in Paris.
Both Nike and the Virgil Abloh Archives confirm that this upcoming program serves as a sequel to the “Virgil Abloh: The Codes c/o Architecture” exhibit from 2022, which showcased plenty of unreleased Virgil Abloh x Nike sneakers as well as previously unseen Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 colorways.
“This exhibit is just the beginning of our work to share Virgil’s legacy and principles with the creative community and the broader world,” Shannon Abloh, the president and chair of the Virgil Abloh Archive, said. Sharing his personal collection, unfinished projects, and magnum opuses with the public is a monumental way we celebrate Virgil’s legacy and his commitment to making information accessible and collaborative. Through the Archive, Virgil will live on as a source of inspiration and beacon of creative knowledge.”
The “Virgil Abloh: The Codes” exhibition will feature a series of programs ranging from dialogues, workshops, performances, and screenings, which will be announced as we get closer to the opening.
