When Nike introduced the “Galaxy” Foamposite One 13 years ago, it sent the sneaker community into a frenzy. On the secondary marketplace, fans offered up unimaginable things to trade, including their cars, for the shoe. Now, Nike is trying to recreate that viral moment with a new trading event this week.
Announced on the @Nikenyc Instagram account yesterday was the Galaxy Foamposite Trading Post event, taking place somewhere in New York City on Thursday, Feb. 20. The poster shared on the Instagram Story includes this link where fans can sign up for a chance to trade any item for the “Galaxy” Foamposite at the in-person event. There are limitations to what can’t be traded, including illegal goods, weapons, drugs, animals, vehicles, or food items.
Selected individuals will receive a confirmation tomorrow to pull up to an undisclosed location for the event at 5:30 p.m. The form confirmed that being selected does not guarantee Nike will accept the item being offered in the trade for the shoes.
The “Galaxy” Foamposite One retro will be released this Friday, Feb. 21, via SNKRS and at select retailers for $230.
