Adidas is doubling down on its cultural legacy with a new campaign aimed at inspiring the next generation. Titled The Original, the collection reinterprets three of the brand’s most recognisable silhouettes—the Superstar II, Handball Spezial, and Samba OG—through a contemporary lens.
The collection leans into Adidas’ storied history while pushing its aesthetic forward. Updates include bold design tweaks, like sharper lines on the classic Firebird jacket and experimental materials on the Sambas, including bright silver finishes and snakeskin textures. The result is a familiar yet future-facing take on iconic sportswear.
To accompany the launch, Adidas has released a short film titled Before there is a thousand, there is The Original, directed by Thibaut Grevet. Known for his visually striking work across fashion and music, Grevet’s film follows a lone dancer in black and white before bursting into colour, revealing a crowd moving in unison. Set to The Platters’ timeless ballad Only You (And You Alone), the film explores how individuality can spark collective cultural movements.
With The Original, Adidas is positioning itself not just as a brand with heritage, but as one that’s actively shaping what’s next.
