Ankle Boots and Ankle Jeans Are Spring’s Most Logical Combo, Per Cameron Diaz

With 2016 fashion making a comeback, ankle boots are having a moment once again. Cameron Diaz is proof they go hand-in-hand with cropped pants and ankle jeans.

On March 19, the 53-year-old actor was spotted filming a new project in New York City wearing a pair of cream suede ankle booties with a bit of a relaxed scrunch that went perfectly with the vibe of her cozy flannel button-down, oversized robe cardigan, and slouchy hobo bag. I could tell, because you see most of the boot thanks to her straight-leg ankle jeans.

As Glamour has previously noted, ankle jeans have been on a bit of a come-down as puddle hems dominate spring 2026 denim trends, but any shoe girl knows that ankle jeans are often the best way to show off the look’s star accessory. In Diaz’s case, that meant opting for a pair of straight-leg ribcage jeans that feel much more current than the skinny ankle jeans we wore with our ankle booties in the mid-2010s. (Of course, those still have their place when styled correctly.)
