Bath & Body Works has gotten rid of a holiday candle after it drew comparisons to the Ku Klux Klan.
TMZ reports that the candle went viral earlier this week when an X user posted an image of it. The “Snowed In” candle’s packaging features a snowflake that resembles the pointed tops and eyehole cutouts of a KKK hood.
The retail company issued a statement about the candle to the outlet.
“At Bath & Body Works, we are committed to listening to our teams and customers, and committed to fixing any mistakes we make-even those that are unintentional like this one. We apologize to anyone we’ve offended and are swiftly working to have this item removed and are evaluating our process going forward.”
The “Snowed In” candle looked to be part of the company’s winter wonderland themed designs, which also have snowflake imagery. At the time of this writing, it appears that all of these candles have been removed from the Bath & Body Works website.
