Brigade was founded in 2014, but since going full force in 2021 the New York City-based streetwear brand has steadily improved with each subsequent collection. Its Fall/Winter 2025 offering “Me vs. The Ave” is its best to date.
Brigade Fall/Winter 2025 explores the diverse backgrounds and businesses of NYC. Button-ups are covered in prints inspired by the local jewelry store, while graphic tees that flip the Honey Smacks cereal box are a nod to the bodegas found across the five boroughs.
Maldonado calls the jewelry store motif his favorite from FW25. It is a custom textile made in collaboration with Tommy Jewels from Oro Latino in NYC’s Chinatown neighborhood. Maldonado took photos of his actual charms and pendants and translated them across shirts, coat liners, and caps.
Our favorite item from the new collection is a black cowichan knit covered in the flags of 12 countries from around the world. The design is meant to represent the diversity of NYC and Brigade’s community. It will drop later this year.
Other key pieces from across the new season include a speckled wool trench coat, its take on the iconic Biggie coat, raw denim double knee pants, and winterized versions of its popular pillbox hats equipped with quilted ear flaps.
Brigade’s “Me vs. The Ave” will be spread out across three deliveries from now through November. The first range of pieces, highlighted by track jackets with removable faux fur collars and the Jewelry Store Button-Ups, is available now on Complex. Prices range from $48-$248.
“I think Brigade has grown up a bit over the past two years,” says Maldonado. “I also think we’re getting better and better at visually representing ourselves and actually making clothes, which is sort of the whole point of this whole thing. If you can’t make good clothes, why do you make any at all?”
Brigade keeps finding ways to level up. Whether you prefer intricate knitwear or streetwear staples like graphic tees, the brand is offering some of the best options on the market right now. Brigade isn’t making trendy items that will be out of vogue by next year. They will only get better with age.
