It’s no secret that the artist formerly known as Kanye West, whose 2025 media attention has been largely defined by his declarations of “I love Hitler” and “I’m a Nazi” and related X updates, is closely intertwined with the 2019 launch of the Kim Kardashian and Jens Grede-founded SKIMS brand. In recent days, the level of Ye’s involvement has again been a source of speculation, most recently thanks to a remark made by Consequence, who zeroed in on the origin of the brand’s logo in a recent X update of his own.

Below, we do our damnedest to hash out the truth about that claim. Keep reading for more.

What did Consequence say about Ye and SKIMS?

As seen below, Cons flat out said, albeit without directly naming Ye (though he’s been tweeting about him extensively as of late), “Imagine having to live with the fact that the SKIMS logo is in your own HANDWRITING.”

What has Kim Kardashian said about Ye’s contributions to SKIMS?

During an interview with Andrew Ross Sorkin as part of the New York Times DealBook Conference back in 2019, Kim Kardashian, who was joined by mother Kris Jenner for the conversation, spoke a bit about how she and Ye, who were then still married, helped with each other’s respective brands.

“For SKIMS, he drew the logo,” Kim said at the time, adding that Ye, then still known as Kanye West, inspired a total overhaul of the brand’s packaging and offered “amazing advice” on how to best execute her vision. Kim also credited Ye with helping pick photographers, models, and colorways, calling her then-husband both her “ghost stylist” and “ghost creative director.”

What has Ye said about SKIMS recently?

In March, Ye introduced Akademiks to his frequent collaborator, artist Vanessa Beecroft. During the introduction, which followed an interview in which Ye was seen wearing a swastika pendant and KKK-style attire not unlike the imagery he used for “Black Skinhead” over a decade ago, Beecroft was billed as “really where SKIMS came from.”

Ye and Playboi Carti, meanwhile, were recently publicly at odds following a SKIMS-mentioning lyric on MUSIC track “FINE SHIT.”

What has SKIMS been up to lately?

The Kim-led brand recently opened the doors to its newest SKIMS store in West Hollywood.
