SoCal-based artist Joshua Vides believes Check Engine Light, now open in Downtown Los Angeles, is his “best solo show to date.”

The show, open through Feb. 24, sees Vides puling creative inspiration from his introduction to the wide world of cars in the early 1990s. The resulting experience centers on a trio of hand-painted vehicles, all housed in a decidedly Vides-driven space that also boasts paintings and drawings, among other pieces.

Earlier this month, Vides let prospective attendees know that the show, which takes place during Frieze Art Week, is an entirely “self-funded” and “self-produced” endeavor.

“Bring everyone you know with you, and if you got a car to flex, bring that too,” Vides told fans, adding that entry to the space costs exactly zero dollars.

Below, get the full rundown on the show, access to which opens daily at 9:00 a.m. local time.
