The world is searching long and hard for its next 007. But in London last night, Pierce Brosnan proved we might not actually need a new James Bond.

Sure, the Irish actor hasn’t played the legendary secret agent in over 20 years now (23, to be exact), but the man still has that debonair suaveness in spades. On Tuesday, he pulled up to the BAFTA Film Makers Dinner at the very exclusive Alfred’s Members Club, and the Bond aura came thick and fast.

Starting from the very top, Brosnan slicked his silvery hair all the way back and threw on a pair of ’70s-coded aviators from Saint Laurent. The acetate frames were covered in a tortoiseshell pattern, while the tinted lenses gave him some, ahem, golden eyes. The Black Adam star was also dripped out in an excellent tuxedo by British label Dunhill. With strong shoulders, fanged-out lapels, and a perfectly knotted bow tie, it looked exactly like the mohair dinner suit that he wore in 1999’s The World is Not Enough. To take things to the next level, there was also a white waistcoat with a silver chain detail.

But while his Bond wore the Omega Seamaster Professional in the films, in real life Brosnan’s opted for something else: the Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945. Of all the watches in his ever-growing collection, the 1945 is by far the actor’s fave, and if you see it strapped to his wrist, you know he’s heading somewhere special. “I was in New York doing Laws of Attraction with Julianne Moore,” he told GQ in a 2022 interview. “I bought it. I came out of the store, my knees were shaking [due to] how much money I just dropped.” It’s slick, old school, and supremely cool, just like the man himself.

Like a 2015 bottle of Château Margaux, Pierce Brosnan just gets better and better with age, and that’s why he’s still the guy we all want to be when we grow up.
