WhyHunger announced a partnership with Grammy Award-winning Guyanese-American artist SAINt JHN on October 22 to support the nonprofit’s Hungerthon campaign, an educational and fundraising initiative addressing hunger’s root causes in America. The collaboration includes limited-edition merchandise launching November 6 at Hungerthon.org, featuring a black hoodie and white t-shirt designed by SAINt JHN.
The partnership will be celebrated with a pop-up dinner at New York City’s Phoenix Palace on November 6. SAINt JHN and WhyHunger have curated the event with Chef Zhan Chen of Potluck Club and Phoenix Palace, featuring Guyanese-Chinese menu items and a cocktail hour followed by speeches and dinner. Tickets are priced at $300 per guest, including one t-shirt, and are available for purchase on WhyHunger’s website.
“If I can design something beautiful that also buys a family groceries—that’s the kind of art I want to make,” SAINt JHN said in a statement. Jenique Jones, Executive Director of WhyHunger, added, “The power an artist has to impact positive change when they bring their authentic self to a cause they are passionate about cannot be understated, and we are so excited to team up with SAINt JHN in the fight for justice.”
WhyHunger’s 40th Hungerthon campaign kicks off November 3, uniting radio partners SiriusXM and iHeartRadio New York alongside artists including Bruce Springsteen and Yoko Ono Lennon. Last year’s campaign raised $1 million for hunger relief efforts across the United States.
