Last Updated 7/11/2025 at 8:30 a.m. ET: I’ve said it before: The only good polo is a pique polo. Colorful, patterned knit polos may get all the attention, but to me, they’re a nightmare: Clingy in all the wrong places, and then maddeningly floppy in others. And of course, my main complaint still stands: A hot-weather garment in a cold-weather fabric? Make it make sense!
Compare that genuine mess with the hardy, cooling, heritage magic that comes from the textured, waffle-like nature of the pique weave. Which, as I’ve just noticed, is being majorly discounted this Prime Day, even by the makers of the very best pique polos in the game—Lacoste, Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger, Brooks Brothers. Special mention for Lacoste here: The brand invented the polo shirt in 1933, debuting the style in, you guessed it, pique.
The Best Prime Day Pique Polo Deals
You know the fabric: It’s the one you think of when you think of a polo shirt, the one that feels crisp and substantial on day one, and then somehow crisp, substantial, and soft on day 11,723. Simply put, pique polos are flattering without asking to be looked at, wick sweat away like no other fabric, and welcome being put through pretty much any kind of wash cycle. You just cannot say the same for knit.
But honestly, I’m giving the knit polo side of this argument too much time here. Because a pique polo isn’t just better than a knit polo in the summer months—it’s also better than a T-shirt (pique polos are more breathable, yet more respectable), a button-up shirt (be gone, sleeves!), and a tank top (please, we have some standards.)
Thankfully, I’m far from the only dog in this fight. All of the best menswear brands, if and when they produce polos, are now doing so in classic pique—the result of a few look du jours firmly taking root, chief among them the explosion of tennis style, the re-emergence of the quiet, “old money” aesthetic, and the latest trend: Looking like you just walked off a Hollister shoot.
But the fact that pique is on trend is besides the point. There’s an eternal case to be made for the pique polo—one I made on a random weekday last September—but an even bigger case to be made for it this Prime Day, where almost every single one of the BPBs (Big Polo Bois) have seen their pique polo prices slashed. Add some to your cart, and I’ll see you on the court.
Prime Day FAQ
What are the best menswear brands on Amazon?
For affordable fashion across the board, Amazon’s got the goods. If you’re after basics, look to tried-and-true labels like Gildan, Calvin Klein, Russell Athletic, and Kirkland Signature. On the footwear front, you’ll find everything from Adidas sneakers to Red Wing boots to Allen Edmonds dress shoes. The watch selection is equally stacked, with classics from Casio, G-Shock, Seiko, and even the occasional Tag Heuer. And when it comes to sunglasses on Amazon, don’t sleep on Ray-Ban, Chimi, and Oakley. And with more and more inventory from Shopbop (Amazon’s fashion-focused subsidiary) making its way onto the platform, Amazon’s menswear lineup is deeper than you’d expect.
Do I need to be a Prime member to shop Amazon Prime Day?
Yes, you must be an Amazon Prime member to access Prime Day’s exclusive deals. If you’re not yet a member, you can sign up for a 30-day trial.
How long do the deals last?
For as long as we can remember, Prime Day has been a two-day event. Not this year. In 2025, you’ll have four full days to shop for deals. The deals will begin on July 8 and be live through July 11.
Do Prime Day deals change each day?
Yep, Prime Day deals definitely change each day, and sometimes even by the hour. Amazon rotates in new discounts each day across all categories (tech, clothing, home, you name it), so what’s here today might be gone tomorrow. Some deals only last 24 hours, and others sell out with a quickness. If you see something you like, it’s probably smart to grab it before it’s gone.
Do other retailers participate in Prime Day?
While there is only one store participating in Amazon Prime Day (uh, Amazon), there are plenty of other retailers that ride off Prime Day’s coattails. There will be plenty of competitive sales worth perusing, and we’ll make sure we surface those deals up for you. For example, Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale begins on July 12.
